Join a band of walkers from across the world as they join forces to walk 100 miles in 24 hours as a symbol of togetherness and perseverance in the third edition of the African Centurion Walk, proudly brought to you by Old Mutual.

The African Centurion Walk on the world-renowned Robben Island, Cape Town, South Africa happens from 20 to 21 October 2018 and is unique because it is the last edition on this UNESCO heritage site and the emphasis lies on celebrating the 100 years of Nelson Mandela.

You have the opportunity to join legendary ranks and receive a coveted Centurion number and be listed as a South African Centurion Walker.

You can enter as a solo walker or as a team of two or four walkers, so make it a family affair or get a team-building gang together.

Join the Island Experience

Set on Robben Island, the African Centurion is a rich, affecting journey through the most famous exemplar of South Africa’s brutal yet triumphant recent history.

All walkers and supporters take the ferry from the Nelson Mandela Gateway in Cape Town the morning of the 20th of October. Upon arrival on the island, all walkers receive a welcome pack and make themselves comfortable before the race starts sharp at 12pm. There will be a support village, with food and beverages and also medical assistance. Accommodation options are available upon request, email info@africancenturion.com for more information.

The race finishes at 12pm on the 21st of October. A short award ceremony will be held before embarking on the 2pm ferry back to the mainland.

Twenty-four hours of walking will take you through an incredibly rare opportunity to spend a night on the island with fellow walkers. You’ll leave knowing you were part of something truly special.
